biography
anna thiele lebt und arbeitet als freie Fotografin in Berlin. An der renommierten Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie war sie 2010 bis 2011 Meisterschülerin bei Professor Arno Fischer. Seit 2008 werden ihre Arbeiten regelmäßig in Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen gezeigt, und sie wurden in internationalen Wettbewerben ausgezeichnet. Ihre Bilder sind Teil der Sammlung des Deutschen Architekturmuseums in Frankfurt am Main, der Artothek der Kommunalen Galerie Berlin sowie in privaten Sammlungen.
Urbane Transformation ist ein zentrales Thema ihrer künstlerischen Fotoprojekte, in denen sie eine besondere Sicht auf die Wechselbeziehungen Raum–Mensch, Mensch–Raum erzeugt. Oft über viele Jahre erkundet sie Orte, an denen urbane und soziale Visionen ihren Ausdruck finden. 2020 erschien ihr erstes Buch 'tempelhof. metamorphosis' im DISTANZ Verlag und wurde mit dem Deutschen Fotobuchpreis in Silber ausgezeichnet.
In den letzten Jahren hat sich anna thiele vermehrt frei-assoziativen Projekten zugewandt, in denen sie sehr diverse Motive aus dem Alltagskontext zu ganz eigenen poetischen Räumen und Erzählungen transformiert. In diesen Arbeiten setzt sie sich vor allem mit existenziellen Themen wie der Fragilität des Lebens oder der Isolation auseinander. Mit 'fragments of now' war eines dieser Projekte 2021 auf EInladung der Kommunalen Galerie Berlin erstmals als Installation im öffentlichen Raum zu sehen.

anna thiele is a berlin-based freelance photographer. From 2010 to 2011, she was a master student with Professor Arno Fischer at the renowned Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie. Since 2008, her work has been regularly shown in solo and group exhibitions and she has been rewarded in international competitions. Her photographs are part of the collection of the Deutsches Architekturmuseum in Frankfurt am Main, the Artothek of the Kommunale Galerie Berlin as well as in private collections.
Urban transformation is a central theme of her artistic photo projects, in which she creates a special view of the interrelationships space–human, human–space. Often over many years, she explores sites where urban and social visions find their expression. In 2020, her first book 'tempelhof. metamorphosis' was published by DISTANZ and awarded the German Photobook Prize in silver.
In recent years, anna thiele has increasingly turned to freer, more associative projects in which she transforms very diverse fragments from an everyday context into her own poetic spaces and narratives. In these projects, she deals primarily with existential themes such as the fragility of life or isolation. With 'fragments of now', one of these projects was shown in 2021 for the first time as an installation in public space upon invitation of the Kommunale Galerie Berlin.
